INDICATIONS
Type 2 Diabetes
Adjuvant therapy in insulin-dependent diabetics especially if overweight
An antihyperglycemic agent which improves glucose tolerance in partients with type 2 diabetes, lowering both basal and postprandial plasma glucose
Improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization
Assocated with less GI side effects compared to immediate release metformin (IR) leading to increased compliance and decreased vascular complications.
